Creating and Using Menu Headers

Menu headers improve the presentation of your quotes by grouping items based on when they'll be served, rather than by their internal category.

Understanding Menu Headers

While categories organise your inventory (e.g., Baking, Hot Food, Platters), menu headers organise how items appear on customer quotes (e.g., Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea).

The same item can appear under different menu headers depending on when it's being served. For example, a cheese scone from your Baking category might be grouped under "Morning Tea" in one quote and "Lunch" in another.

Setting Up Menu Headers

  1. Navigate to Settings and select Menu Headers
  2. Create headers that describe meal services (e.g., "Breakfast", "Morning Tea", "Lunch", "Afternoon Tea", "Dinner")
  3. Save your headers - they'll now be available in all quotes

Applying Menu Headers to Quotes

When creating or editing a quote:

  1. For each item, use the Menu Header dropdown to select when it will be served
  2. You can also create a new menu header inline if needed
  3. Leave blank to group by category instead

Benefits

  • Clearer quotes: Customers see items grouped by when they'll be served
  • Professional presentation: Well-organised quotes reflect quality service
  • Multiple deliveries: Perfect for events with several meal services

Tip: Assign menu headers as you add items to quotes - it's quicker than editing them later.
